MEET OUR STAFF
ALICIA KNICKMAN - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Alicia started with CASA in August of 2015 as the part-time Operations Manager and was promoted to Executive Director on December 1, 2019.
Fun fact: Alicia loves the ocean but won't get in if she sees a fish!
What I love most about my position is that I can help create a framework to support the incredible volunteer staff that we have and enable them to help as many children as possible. My goal is to grow the program so that we are able to provide a CASA volunteer to every child in foster care in Jefferson County.
MARTIENNE VELO - PROGRAM MANAGER
Martienne started with CASA in early 2014 as a volunteer. Her passion for kids led her to become our very first Volunteer Coordinator on April 1, 2016 and then promoted to Program Manager on December 1, 2019.
Fun fact: Martienne can write in cursive backwards, loves camping, hiking and cycling/mountain biking, and is often referred to as "IT Department" in the office.
I’ve always said that I don’t care how long I live or what things I have. All that matters to me is that throughout my life I have done my part to make this world a better place. As a CASA volunteer, I was very happy to know I was helping to improve the lives of the foster children for whom I was advocating. As Program Manager I know that I have the capability of teaching many other people to make a difference, which can have a monumental impact. Perhaps I can spread my passion like wildfire. For this, I am honored to work for Jefferson County CASA!
CHRISTINA BIER - ADVOCATE SUPERVISOR
Christina became a welcome addition to our team as a Volunteer Coordinator in April 2017.
Fun fact: Christina has been actively involved in her son's football team and her favorite color is glitter.
Jefferson County CASA has given me the opportunity to work with a group of genuinely kind, caring and generous volunteers. Together we can continue to have a positive impact and make a significant difference in the lives of children in the Jefferson County Foster Care system. I believe we have a responsibility to help others whenever possible, and being a part of CASA allows me the privilege of doing this every day.
TONY HUNT - ADVOCATE SUPERVISOR
Tony became a welcome addition to our team as a Volunteer Coordinator in November 2022. Fun fact: Tony is a professional musician, instructor and artist developer. He has been featured in DRUM! Magazine and is currently signed to a cymbal endorsement with the Soultone Cymbal company. |
In the past, I have been employed as a case manager with Children's Division, worked in the juvenile rehab and drug court programs, served as a CASA volunteer and focused my college studies on helping families, especially children. I now have the privilege of serving my community by helping other volunteers navigate the foster care system and allow them to best advocate for the children's needs and wants. Every child deserves to have their voice to be heard and through the CASA program, this is an achievable goal. It is my sincerest hope that by leading CASA volunteers, I can assist the children in care through the difficult road that may lay ahead.
